10 Top Tips for September
At this time of year your skin can feel like it’s in meltdown. After a Summer of heavy duty sunscreen and the bleaching effects of the sun your skin is suddenly confronted with the drying effects of wind and a drop in temperature. We’ve put together a few tips to help you look after your skin this Autumn.
- Travel sizes of your favourite products are great to keep in your handbag to guard against the drying effects of air con or the changes in the environment.
- Handcream
can be a life saver during the colder months – we recommend Anne Semonin’s Botanical Hand Cream, £55. It's really lightweight and not oily or greasy.
- Make sure you exfoliate twice a week to stop patches of dry skin or uneven skin tone. Ann, one of our therapists, swears by Elemis’ Papya Enzyme Peel, it goes on like a mask so you can let it do its work whilst you dry your hair or do the hovering. Oh, and it smells amazing too.
- For an instant boost get your nails done – neat polished nails can lift your outfit and leave you feeling a million dollars. Check out our selection of manicures here.
- Two products we can’t live without this Autumn
- Budget – Elemis’ Fruit Active Glow Mask, £26 – this heavenly scented product smells gorg – ‘it reminds me of exotic holidays with its smell of strawberries and kiwis’ says spa manager Lisa
- Splurge – Anne Semonin’s Phytarosa Serum, £89, use this serum each night to soothe and rejuvenate the skin- it’s perfect to refresh the skin after sun exposure.
- Massage a little olive oil into dry hair and leave for 15 minutes. This is a great way to nourish dry ends without spending loads.
- Keep an eye on beauty websites – their blogs can be an invaluable source of inspiration – at the Verbena Spa we love Wahanda and The Good Spa Guide.
- Carry on that Summer feeling for a little bit longer – pop essential oils that remind you of your holiday in your burner to instantly be back there. Lisa says, ‘I love bergamot and cypress essential oils, they remind me of lazy days in Greece.’
- Massage may sound like the most relaxing treatment but we recommend one of our signature Anne
Semonin facials to really relax and inspire you. The blend of oils and serums will leave your skin looking fab but it’s the soothing facial and scalp massage that will really zone you out.
- Be confident in your own knowledge - you know your skin type and what works for you. We're here to advise you but without your input we can't make sure you get the best product/experience for you.
